Oh. I thought this was going to be about great depression cooking, as in some fucking misery guts moping about making eggs, or a giant pizza topped with ice cream. To be honest a lot of what this woman ate back then was decent stuff. Pasta with peas? Yes please. Count me in, it beats a hula hoop sandwich. My grandfather lived in New York during this time and he told me he once had to eat his own car to survive. He should have popped round to Clara's for slap up pasta and peas, the poor sod.

I am really impressed. Dear Clara is 91 years old, yet she is still doing well, she should be an inspiration to the young generation to eat and live healthy. This recipe looks very nice. I also prepare kind of a variation to this - with brown lentils. Boil the lentils first, add fried red onion with 1 stock of vegetable cube, garlic/ginger, some tomato puree, salt- let all this boil by adding pasta. When pasta is boiled, the meal is ready. It is very delicious-can be eaten with tomato salsa.
